COMMISSIONS

CarolPainting.jpg

I regularly accept commissions and it is always a joy and a privilege.   To help you plan a painting that has special meaning for you and fits into a space envisioned by you, is a deeply rewarding experience for me.  My goal is to work with you to create a painting that reflects your taste and your vision and that will bring you many years of delight.

How to Get Started?

The first step is to contact me and we can discuss your ideas, where you would like to hang the painting and how big the painting would be.  If you need help in determining these points, we can work that out together. Next, you will need to tell me when you would like to have the finished painting. Generally, a commission requires 1-3 months to complete, depending on the size of the painting. Once we have agreed on the size and subject of the painting, I ask a 50% non-refundable deposit. The balance of payment will be due upon completion of the painting and I will send you a photo to be sure you are completely satisfied with the painting.  I will then ship the painting to you.

What types of subjects are possible?

Portraits, (both people and pets), landscapes, still life, and anything else that has meaning for you can be the subject of your painting. Photos are always useful and in the case of portraits, they are necessary.  Portraits can be of a more formal style, i.e., a still pose, or an action photo for a more animated portrait. This is a matter of your taste.  The painting can be in colors that appeal to you and if I am working from a photo, we can always change details in the photo to coincide with your taste.

Shipping

Custom artwork is rolled and shipped in sturdy tubes. This method helps reduce the risk of damage in shipping and reduces shipping costs.  When you receive the painting, you can take it to a professional framer who will mount the painting on wooden stretcher bars. The painting can then be framed or left unframed according to your taste. (Paintings 12 x 16 and smaller can be shipped already mounted on stretcher bars.)
